The Mediators: Expertise Matters
Parties need mediators who understand the intricacies of their cases and industries. The AAA National Roster of Mediators includes around 1,500 professionals well positioned to offer services on the array of fields noted above, and more.
The AAA Master Mediator Panel is comprised of exceptionally experienced commercial and construction mediators skilled in helping parties in large complex cases negotiate productively to reach settlement efficiently.
This panel, members of which have been independently vetted by veteran attorneys of large-claim mediations, includes former federal or appellate-level judges, award winners for excellence in mediation, and writers and lecturers on the theory and practice of mediation.
Almost two-thirds of AAA B2B (business-to-business) cases initially filed as arbitrations are settled, and many are resolved through mediation, saving the time and cost of proceeding through arbitration to award.
In cases with claims or counterclaims exceeding $75,000, both the AAA Commercial Arbitration Rules and the AAA Construction Industry Arbitration Rules require parties to mediate in conjunction with arbitration, unless they opt out. Master mediators can be instrumental in helping parties resolve their disputes in order to return focus to their companies’ core business activities.
AAA Mediation.orgSM, a division of the AAA, provides parties and attorneys with a database of mediators searchable by practice area, geographic location, and language. The site also provides information about the process of mediation and mediator training.
AAA Panel Diversity
The AAA is committed to the growth of diversity and inclusion of its panel members.
The AAA Roster of Mediators is comprised of 27% women and minorities, and 26% of the mediators appointed to cases are diverse.
